What a great day we had today with our core Young People!🤩

Every Monday afternoon we hold person-centred sessions for our Young People to create whilst being mentored by our team of professional artists! Today was lots of planning and progress towards the next market at Perth Creative Exchange later next month. 😁 Our Monday sessions are self-led, so you can learn and experience what is important to each individual. We also offer artist-led workshops for those interested, such as ceramics, print-making and painting to name just a few! 😊

Last night was our last Digital Art Club session for this term. The young people exhibited their best work and we invited parents and carers in to see all their hard creative work. We had a crit session before the doors opened - inviting each other to be `Critical Friends`.

Our young people sessions are mostly self-led and person-centred. However we have been working on a group project that has been using Perth`s history as inspiration and research. This week, we played around using the analogue textures from the previous session and combined them with digital drawings. Georgie created this foreboding portrait of Mary Queen of Scots. 👏 👑

We tried out an exercise from Betty Edwards book `Drawing on the Right Hand Side of the Brain` at Digital Art Club. If you want to get better at drawing you need to quieten down the left hand side of your brain which is always trying to define and categorise. The right hand side of your brain is much better at observing at face value. This exercise turns a sketch by Picasso of Stravinsky upside down to help the drawer see the lines only and not the subject.
