Supporting young people into Creative Careers
About Us
Identified Need:
Most young people we work with face barriers to education, employment and training; this can be due to social anxiety, a lack of confidence or mental health issues.
Mission:
We aim to be the conduit for these young people to connect with and learn from professional artists and makers in Perth & Kinross. Our ultimate goal is to connect dozens of young people each year with their possible futures by supporting their wellbeing, confidence and abilities.
Social Impact :
To date we have supported a variety of young people to progress to higher education and art college, take on individual commissions and set up their own enterprises.
For example, our Kickstart placement set up their own business after six months of working with us. Their business is steadily growing, delivering freelance services and selling their own artwork.
Strategy:
We deliver live projects and services including:
- making artwork & products to sell
- creative workshops
- professional creative commissions & partnership projects
- mentoring & skill sharing
Through this way of working we offer opportunities for young people to work alongside us gaining work experience, confidence and transferable skills.
Partnerships & Commissions:
Previous partners have included: Articulate Cultural Trust, Perth Autism Support, Creative Learning Network, Perth Museum & Art Gallery and Moncreiffe Primary School.
Are you young and creative?
At Creative Catalyst young people have the opportunity to explore different mediums and techniques, meet like-minded creatives and learn about different creative jobs.
We offer:
- Various creative workshops, in small groups with professional artists and designers
- Mentoring, advice and sign-posting from artists and designers
- The chance to join in on real-life, professional commissions
- Facilities to make products to sell with Creative Catalyst at makers markets and elsewhere
At all times, each young person is able to choose what they participate in. We are here to support young people to find their own path.
