Our Mission is to provide a safe space for young people to be treated as equals, feel supported, listened to, and to find their own fit in terms of who they are; enabling them to thrive in life and transition safely to their next steps, whether in education, training or employment.
Most of the young people we support face significant barriers to education and employment. These challenges can stem from negative experiences in school and education, mental health struggles, social anxiety, or neurodiversity. For many, even considering these next steps can feel overwhelming.
Closing the gap
We aim to close a gap in the equity of provision for young creative people who are not in education, employment or training. Through their creative interests we support these young people to connect with, learn from and gain work experience with the creative community of professional artists and makers in Perth and Kinross. Our goal is to connect dozens of young people each year with their possible futures by supporting their wellbeing, confidence and abilities.
Regular person-centred sessions
Our weekly young people sessions are person-centred and enables individuals to develop their own interests, work on collaborative projects, and make social connections. The weekly schedule provides structure and consistency to their week. The ratio of mentors to young people allows us to take our time with individuals to find out their needs, learning style, interests, values and ambitions. Our group mentors are there to talk to, run ideas by, ask advice and signpost. At all times, the young person’s wellbeing is at the core of what we do.
We also run professional projects and services where young people gain hands-on work experience by working alongside us. These include:
- Individuals making their own artwork and products to exhibit and sell
- Gaining new technical and transferable skills through creative skills workshops
- Collaborating and working as part of a team on commissions and partnership projects
- Mentoring support and peer learning
